What's On

Big in Falkirk

Shieldhill & California Community Council

Welcome to the Shieldhill & California Community Council (SCCC) area of Falkirk Online. This area of the community portal has been set up for SCCC to provide local news and information to residents so that they are informed of local issues, organisations and events.

SCCC is non-political and acts for the common good of the villages. The Council holds regular public meetings to which everyone is welcome to attend. The nominated members of SCCC are all unpaid volunteers living in the villages of Shieldhill and California. All the nominated members have full-time jobs in various disciplines and give their time to make Shieldhill and California better places to live.

SCCC's agenda is steered by local issues – big and small. Residents are encouraged to take an active part if there are issues concerning them. The Community Council prides itself on the active role it plays representing the community for the common good of the residents. Topics and issues are all noted in the minutes, which are made available in the local shops, Post Office and here on this site. It also falls on residents to make the Community Council aware of any issues concerning them.

Meeting Dates

Meetings are held on a regular basis – usually on the last Thursday of the month – and are advertised in the Falkirk Herald. Unless otherwise posted, the meetings are normally held at 7.30pm in the Community Wing, adjacent to Shieldhill Primary School, Main Street, Shieldhill.

For the months in the summer where no meetings are planned, the Convener or any other council member can call for a meeting to be held as required.
