Community Councils
Role of Community Councils
There are 20 active Community Councils out of a possible 23 in the Falkirk area. They have been established to ascertain the views of their communities in terms of local issues, needs and wishes and to convey these views to the Council.
The Community Councils are consulted on issues such as planning and licensing applications, community planning, community events and heritage preservation.
Community Councils meetings are held in public and members are elected to ensure as wide a cross-section of community representatives as possible. Elections are held every four years.
